With some state employee pensions exceeding $150,000 to over $200,000 and salaries/benefits exceeding $350,000, as noted below, who at the State is protecting Taxpayers!

Breaking:  Lembo Certifies Higher Deficit Than Malloy Budget Office

It’s worse than initially thought. The state is running a deficit of at least $415 million, according to state Comptroller Kevin Lembo.

EDITORIAL: Malloy has yet to put Connecticut's fiscal house in order ...

New Haven Register: The labor concessions that the governor won from government workers’ labor unions have fallen short of their expected savings. The state also still is handing out some $40 million a year in longevity bonuses to state employees as a reward for simply staying in their jobs.

Taxpayers:  You may be unemployed, underemployed, living on social security or broke but you will continue to pay some exorbitant salaries and pensions as well as  a 9% wage increase for State employee unions which are also guaranteed job security while State budget deficits are in the millions and billions for fiscal years 2013 through 2016 as noted below.   If deficits are being driven by Medicaid funding, why has the State excluded an Asset Test as noted within  In Brief: Connecticut's new Medicaid for Low-Income Adults - CT.gov.

From the Federation: Whether it is the direct taxes you pay, long term debt incurred through excessive government bonding, government waste, fraud and corruption, or quid-pro-quo politics, Governments on all levels - Local, State and Federal – are fueled by your Tax Dollars.

When politicians go on a spending spree and need more, it’s you they come after.  And at the State, Federal and Local levels of government they need a lot more.  A whole lot more because their addiction is so strong to other people’s money – your money – they have maxed out the governments’ credit cards!

The Federation suggests that Governor Malloy must get his house in order and not expect more from the Taxpayers of Connecticut through either an increase in State taxes or a reduction in municipal aid which will in turn drive up local property taxes for homeowners and businesses.  The Governor must begin by calling upon the Democrat controlled State legislature to reform Collective Bargaining/Binding Arbitration laws and other state mandates.  Public sector unions should not be allowed to exert control over our state/municipal budgets or manpower.  That control should instead rest with those whom we elect to municipal and state offices.

Connecticut Taxpayers are Already Taxed to the Max as the Summary of State Revenues by Fund, Tax Type and Account for Fiscal Years 2007 through 2012 illustrates as prepared by Robert Young, Secretary,  of the Federation of Connecticut Taxpayer Organizations.

We recently learned that Connecticut Ranks Last Among 50 States In Credit Quality Analysis ...

State taxpayers may be broke but they are paying 415 state retiree pensions of over $100,000 a year with the highest at $269,623 (see below).  Our State’s budget is in the tank as Malloy's budget chief confirms $365M state deficit this year and a  Projected deficit for next fiscal year tops $1.1 billion.   Enlightening news which surfaced after the November 6, 2012 election and after a $1.5 billion state tax hike, a gift of a 9% wage increase under a no layoff clause for State employee unions, and millions of dollars in subsidies for corporations based on speculative job creation as the State focuses on bankrolling businesses .

Other spending habits by our State officials include Cost of free tuition for UConn employees on the rise, approaches $5 million  as recently reported by Zachary Janowski who noted  Employees of the University of Connecticut receive free tuition at the college for themselves, their spouses and children, an in-kind benefit worth $4.7 million in 2011”, while  30,000 Connecticut State Employees Receiving $18 Million In ...Longevity Bonuses just for staying on the job.  Bet some private sector workers would give their employers a bonus to guarantee their own longevity on the job!

Connecticut State Police Supervisors Get Big Pay Raises - News ... A 56% Wage Increase while TAXPAYERS PAID OVER 5.7 BILLION DLRS FOR STATE OF CONNECTICUT HEALTHCARE COSTS IN 2012 .

And less than two weeks ago, we learned that UConn Hires Communications VP At $227,500 - Hartford Courant while Chief Justice: CT Judges Need $45,000 Raise - Brookfield, CT Patch.  The Federation in researching  the State’s Transparency Website learned that as State Judges seek a wage hike, the State Judicial Department Employs 5,163 employees for a total of $421,722,635 with many salaries and benefits exceeding $200,000 and as high as $237,320.

And oh yes, the on-again, off-again romance with the Board of Regents culminated in   College presidents' pay hikes reinstated by Board of Regents | The ... resulting in $48,000 pay increases.
